KIYONARI LOOKING TO MAKE AMENDS FOR BUILDBASE BMW AT BRANDS HATCH

kiyonari3The Buildbase BMW Motorrad team heads south this weekend for Round 2 of the 2015 MCE Insurance British Superbike championship. Ryuichi Kiyonari will be looking to make up lost ground after a tough race day two weeks ago at Donington Park. After dominating practice and qualifying, Kiyonari struggled with a lack of feeling in the first race at the Leicestershire circuit. Feeling much better in race two, the three-times champion pushed a little too hard too soon and highsided out of fourth place. Two podium finishes are essential for the Japanese star this weekend if he's to kickstart his championship challenge. After two strong points scoring finishes at Donington, Lincolnshire teenager Lee Jackson will be looking to make further progress at the 1.2079 mile Brands Indy circuit in just his second round as a full-time superbike rider. Feeling comfortable with his Buildbase BMW S1000RR, Jackson is confident of another positive weekend. Ryuichi Kiyonari: “I'm not very happy with the races at Donington, especially after practice and qualifying. What I can take away from that weekend is I felt the problem went away in the second race and I could have challenged, but it was a little bit too much, too fast and I crashed. The machine and the team are very good and have a lot of potential. I'm looking forward to Brands Hatch and I am confident we can challenge, hopefully for the win - I always want to win!”Lee Jackson: “Donington was a good weekend but I think it could have been even better had it not been for the crash in qualifying. On Friday we were third and 11th so that shows we have the pace. I’m starting to feel really good on the Buildbase BMW. It’ll be tricky around Brands Indy with so many riders but I’m used to that from Superstock! Hopefully we can achieve some decent results and go away happy.”Steve Hicken, Team Manager: “It was a tough old day at Donington to walk away with so little after dominating practice and qualifying. We’ll now need to dig deep this weekend at Brands to start chipping away at the top six. We’ve got plenty of pace. Ideally we need to be winning races but we’ll see what we can do.”MCE British Superbikes – Round 2 – Brands Hatch Friday 17th April Free Practice 1: 10:30-11:15 Free Practice 2: 15:25-16:10Saturday 18th April Free Practice 3: 10:30-11:15 Qualifying 1: 16:05-16:25 Qualifying 2: 16:32-16:44 Qualifying 3: 16:51-16:59Sunday 19th April Warm up: 10:15-10:30 Race 1: 13:30 Race 2: 16:30Images are copyright free for editorial use, click an image to download a high resolution version.
